Some detailed shots of a couple of pieces from a recent collaboration entitled 'Course Correction' put together for the Brunswick Street Gallery 'We Wear Future' - part of the VAMFF. It was so great to work with John Brooks, Aly Peel and Vittoria Di Stefano to put this work together. A great collaboration to me means everyone can do what they do best and if the combination of people is right no one has to do the bits they don't like and no one has to stress the small stuff. This project was a bit of dream come true. Proper fab shots of all the work coming soon to my folio.
Last year while I was still studying I was lucky enough to intern with Romance Was Born. And although I can say I learnt a lot and that everyone was super nice I felt completely out of my depth and dorky the whole time (nothing unusual there). So I was so extremely flattered when Anna emailed me earlier this year asking me if I could knit a skirt and top for them.
The pieces were to be exhibited at a Woolmark Gala dinner at the MCA in Sydney in honour of L'Uomo Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani. I of course said yes - how could I not? Panic followed quickly when it became apparent that they needed everything in two weeks. I got most of it done - I wish I had more time to perfect it but it was hand knitted - anyway I did what I could.
I didn't have time to get any photos of the work - (it got thrown into a post bag as soon as it came off the knitting machine at 3.45pm on deadline day) but I recently found some photos of the event and was happy to see the skirt in action. (It's the knitted one on the model). Photos courtesy of Vogue Australia.
The latest Romance Was Born collection 'Bush Magic' looks pretty amazing - not sure when it comes out but it's a really exciting one - you can see part of it at the Express Yourself exhibition at NGV International this Summer. It's a kids exhibition but if you're a fan it's worth seeing - and just fun too.
